Types of Programming Languages

Programming language is also known as scripting, and is basically the artificial vocabulary used to tell computers (and other machines) to perform certain tasks.  This forms the basic structure of all software programmes, and there are many different types of programming languages, which all have specific forms of syntax and semantics, depending on what purpose the program is used for.

Every single home computer contains extensive use of programming languages, and these tell the computer to turn on, upload the preferences and settings, run programs and devices and carry out any number of other instructions from opening files to logging onto the Internet.

Specific programming languages such as PHP and Perl are used by web designers and developers to create and build website graphics, content and layout from scratch.  This is a complex process requiring a great deal of proficiency and knowledge of scripting and coding, but does allow very intricate and comprehensive websites to be built.
